New Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce suggests that Jack Colback may still have a future at the club.

New Newcastle United manager Steve Bruce has seemingly opened the door for midfielder Jack Colback to stay at the club.

The 29-year-old midfielder spent the last 18 months on loan at Nottingham Forest after being frozen out by previous Magpies boss Rafael Benitez, making more than 50 appearances for the Reds.

However, the former Sunderland midfielder featured for the Tyneside club in the recent Premier League Asia Trophy and now appears to have been given a second chance.

Speaking to the Shields Gazette, Bruce said: "The time is now to stake your claim.

"There's one or two or three who have got the benefit of a new manager coming in. It's up to them now. As far as I'm concerned, the slate's wiped clean."

Colback, who has been at St James' Park since 2014, has one year left on his current deal with the club.
