AC Milan have defeated Newcastle United following a penalty shoot-out in Steve Harper's testimonial.
Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio scored the winning penalty in front of a crowd of more than 50,000 after a goalless draw in normal time at St James' Park.
A host of Newcastle stars from the Kevin Keegan era took to the field in honour of the veteran goalkeeper, including Andy Cole, Faustino Asprilla, Alan Shearer, Les Ferdinand and David Ginola.
Milan greats such as Paolo Maldini, Franco Baresi, Mark van Bommel and Gianluigi Lentini were among the opposition.
Harper, who spent two decades at Newcastle, donated the proceeds from the game to various charities including the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
The deciding shoot-out finished 2-1, with only Alan Thompson on target for the Magpies.
