Midfielder Sander Berge will reportedly be remaining at Sheffield United despite interest from Newcastle United and Fulham.

Newcastle United and Fulham will reportedly not be signing Sheffield United midfielder Sander Berge on transfer deadline day.

Ever since his switch to Bramall Lane in January 2020, Berge has been frequently linked with a transfer to a bigger club.

That is a consequence of the Norway international contributing 12 goals and nine assists from 87 appearances in all competitions.

With less than 18 months remaining on his contract, it has been expected that admirers of the 24-year-old would step up their interest in his signature.

According to 90min, that has proven to be the case with Newcastle and Fulham each putting forward proposals for the player.

However, it has been suggested neither of those offers were deemed acceptable by the Blades, who will now keep Berge in their squad as they bid to earn a return to the Premier League.

Given their issues with staying within FFP parameters, Newcastle were keen on securing a loan deal, but that was rebuffed by the Yorkshire giants.

Meanwhile, Fulham did not meet Sheffield United's valuation of the player and discussions subsequently ended between the two parties.

Barring any substantial late interest, Berge will now remain in Paul Heckingbottom's squad and enter the final 12 months of his contract in the summer.
