Dougie Freedman pleased with Nottingham Forest commitment

Nottingham Forest boss Dougie Freedman says that he is proud of the commitment shown by his players in their victory at Brighton & Hove Albion on Saturday.

Nottingham Forest manager Dougie Freedman has said that he is proud of the full commitment shown by his players in their victory at Brighton & Hove Albion.

The Scot got off to a winning start as Forest boss as the Reds triumphed 3-2 at The Amex Stadium on Saturday.

Freedman believes that his side's discipline and organisation paid dividends on the South Coast.

"It was on our mind that we had to have a commitment to the team, to play as a team and to do the small basics. In the first half we had to be mentally strong and dig in," Freedman told the Nottingham Post.

"It was a squad that was lacking confidence. We have worked with them on the training ground, we have worked in the discipline in different units and that will give them the confidence; a platform to build something, moving forward.

"It is not about individuals, it is about what we do as a team; about being committed to the team. It was a fantastic game of football and I am really proud of how the game was played. We rode our luck at times and, on another day, we might not have got the win."

Forest return to Championship action on Wednesday evening when they host struggling Wigan Athletic at the City Ground.
