Lyle Taylor brace gives Partick Thistle victory

A second-half brace from Lyle Taylor gave Partick Thistle a 2-0 Scottish Premiership victory over Motherwell.

Motherwell nearly took the lead in the second minute when Scott McDonald played in John Sutton, whose shot went narrowly wide of the left post after deflecting off a defender.

McDonald headed narrowly past the post in the 22nd minute before Lee Erwin's header was saved by Scott Fox two minutes later.

Abdul Osman's shot was well saved on the half-hour mark as Partick Thistle finally managed to test George Long, before Lyle Taylor missed the target from 10 yards.

Taylor gave Partick Thistle the lead in the 54th minute, directing the ball into the top right corner after a set-piece from Kallum Higginbotham.

The Partick Thistle striker added a second 10 minutes later from close range.

Conrad Balatoni and Kris Doolan both missed the target in the closing stages.

Stuart Carswell was sent off in the 89th minute as Partick Thistle gained three points.
