Manchester United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is reportedly looking to appoint former Chelsea technical director Christopher Vivell as he continues his rebuild at Old Trafford.

Manchester United are reportedly interested in appointing former Chelsea technical director Christopher Vivell.

Co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has led an overhaul of the club's football operations since purchasing a majority stake in the club in February.

They have appointed Omar Berrada as the new CEO, with the 46-year-old set to start work later this month after leaving his role as Manchester City's chief football operations officer.

Jason Wilcox is already working in his role as technical director after being appointed from newly-promoted Southampton.

Man United recently confirmed that Dan Ashworth has become the latest addition to the club's new-look hierarchy.

Man United looking to appoint Vivell

Following a lengthy negotiation process, Man United agreed a deal with Newcastle United to release Ashworth from his contract.

According to The Athletic, the Red Devils are now working on a deal to bring Vivell into their new sporting structure.

Ratcliffe reportedly wants to appoint Vivell on an initial short-term basis to assist with the club's transfer business this summer.

The 20-time English champions are keen to benefit from Vivell's expertise in talent identification and player recruitment.

Who is Vivell?

Vivell joined Chelsea as their technical director in December 2022 before he left the West London club in July last year.

The 47-year-old previously spent time at Hoffenheim, before he took up a role with Red Bull Salzburg, where he was responsible for bringing Erling Haaland to the club.

Vivell then moved to Germany to work for Salzburg's sister club RB Leipzig as a technical director and squad planner.

During his time at Leipzig, the German club signed the likes of Josko Gvardiol, Mohamed Simakan and Dominik Szoboszlai.
