Free agent Carl Dickinson signs a one-year deal with League One side Port Vale.

Port Vale have signed former Watford defender Carl Dickinson on a free transfer.

The 26-year-old has signed a one-year deal with the League One outfit after being released by the Hornets at the end of last season.

"Carl has performed at a higher level than League One and that experience will be invaluable for us, especially as he can perform in two positions," manager Micky Adams told the club's official website.

"I am certain that he can make a positive contribution to the squad and look forward to working with him this season."

The left-back, who was loaned out to Portsmouth and Coventry City last term, moved to Vicarage Road from Stoke City two years ago.
