Steve McClaren will be offered a route back into English football management by Queens Park Rangers, according to a report.

Queens Park Rangers reportedly intend to replace Ian Holloway with former England manager Steve McClaren prior to next season.

Holloway played down rumours that he intends to quit Loftus Road earlier this week by revealing that he would happily extend his contract if given the chance.

According to The Mirror, however, QPR chiefs intend to bring in a new man and have set their sights on McClaren, who has been out of work since leaving his backroom role with Israeli side Maccabi Tel Aviv in December.

The 57-year-old last managed in English football 14 months ago when his time at Derby County was brought to an end, and he has also previously had spells in charge of Middlesbrough, Nottingham Forest and Newcastle United.

QPR ended their Championship campaign with a 2-0 loss to Leeds United, making it three wins from their final nine matches.
