The Scottish Football Association have charged Rangers chief executive Charles Green and manager Ally McCoist with bringing the game into disrepute.

Green, who took the financially-stricken club into a newco following their fall into administration in February, has been hit with the charge after he accused the governing body of "bigotry" following their rejection of the Gers into the Scottish Premier League.

McCoist has also been punished by the SFA for demanding to be told the names of the independent judicial panel who decided what sanctions the club should face following former chairman Craig Whyte's demise.

Meanwhile, Newcastle United owner Mike Ashley has expressed an interest in buying a stake in the Glasgow-based outfit.
