Rangers remain 23 points clear of Scottish League one after beating Brechin City 2-1, while Ayr United record an emphatic 3-2 away win at Arbroath.

Rangers remain 23 points clear at the top of the Scottish League One after beating Brechin City 2-1.

Dean Shiels fired home after 14 minutes, and Jon Daly headed a second before the interval to put Rangers in charge.

Steven Robb's strike seven minutes after the restart ensured a nervy second half for the home side.

Meanwhile, Ayr United have recorded an emphatic 3-2 win away at Arbroath to remain third in the division.

Michael Moffat struck twice in the first half, with Michael Donald also on the scoresheet for the away side.

Arbroath pulled two goals back in the second half, courtesy of Bobby Linn and Leighton McIntosh, to make it a tense final 10 minutes for Ayr.

Elsewhere, East Fife went down 1-3 to Dunfermline Athletic, Forfar Athletic drew 1-1 with Airdrieonians and Stenhousemuir also drew 1-1 against Stranraer.
