Mark Warburton agrees contract extension at Rangers

Rangers head coach Mark Warburton signs a new contract at the club which will keep him at Ibrox until 2019.

Head coach Mark Warburton has said that it is "a privilege" to sign a new contract at Rangers.

Warburton and his assistant David Weir have extended their deals at Ibrox until 2019 after leading the club to a return to the Scottish Premiership, and the former Brentford boss has admitted that he is delighted to have secured his future for the next three years.

The 53-year-old is quoted by Sky Sports News as saying: "I'm all agreed with the club. David and myself will sign another year to our contracts.

"All the speculation was due to a 12-day holiday. It was no more than that. 'Why have you not signed?' Because I was away with the wife for 12 days.

"It's a privilege for me to be here in this position and for David with his status at the club. It's a great place to be and we have extended for another year until 2019."

Rangers start the new campaign with a home fixture against Hamilton Academical on August 6.
