Late Nicky Law goal rescues point for Rangers

Falkirk draw 2-2 with Rangers in the Scottish Championship after goals from John Baird and Tom Taiwo are cancelled out by Haris Vuckic and Nicky Law.

Nicky Law scored a stoppage-time equaliser as Rangers drew 1-1 against Falkirk in the Scottish Championship.

Rangers started the match on the front foot, with Darren McGregor and Marius Zaliukas both missing the target from set-piece situations.

Young striker Ryan Hardie tested Falkirk goalkeeper Jamie MacDonald for the first time in the ninth minute, and the 18-year-old, who scored twice on his full debut last week, was stopped again in the 11th minute.

It seemed only a matter of time before Rangers broke the deadlock with Haris Vuckic and Kenny Miller directing the ball on goal in the first 15 minutes.

Falkirk were able to withstand the early Rangers pressure, and their first chance came in the 20th minute when John Baird's shot, directed towards the top right corner, was saved by Cammy Bell. Blair Alston then saw his shot blocked a few minutes later.

Miller again tried to beat MacDonald from inside the area, but the former Hearts goalkeeper ensured that the score would remain level at half time.

Falkirk started the second half on the attack as Luke Leahy and Tom Taiwo's shots were both blocked by Rangers defenders.

Baird made Rangers pay for their lack of cutting edge in the 56th minute, heading into the net from a Craig Sibbald corner.

Falkirk's lead was doubled four minutes later. This time Baird turned provider for Taiwo, who beat Bell to round off a quick counter-attack.

Rangers were shellshocked from the two goals, and Falkirk had chances to add a third, but Alston's shot was too high and Taiwo's effort was saved by Bell.

Tom Walsh nearly pulled a goal back with 15 minutes remaining, hitting the post from 12 yards and McGregor then rose highest from a corner for a headed effort that was denied by MacDonald as Rangers improved.

Vuckic set up an exciting closing seven minutes when he pulled a goal back, heading into the bottom corner after Law's corner.

Law finally grabbed an equaliser in stoppage time, but a point was not enough to keep Hibernian from leapfrogging them into second in the Scottish Championship table.
