Former Rangers star Nacho Novo could be in line for a surprise return to the club after boss Ally McCoist refused to rule out a move.
The Spanish striker now plays for Sporting Gijon, but he has been training with the Gers during Spain's festive break.
Novo has reportedly impressed in training while back in Scotland and, with Rangers currently suffering an injury crisis in their striking department, McCoist could make a move for the 32-year-old.
"Nacho was back home for Christmas and New Year and phoned us up and asked to come in and do a bit of training," said McCoist.
"He was the same wee Nacho that the Rangers supporters loved for many years here and he is a player that we know has been over the course and distance here.
"But, at this moment in time, I can't tell you anything other than he was looking good. I can't say we are interested and I can't rule out interest in any other player either."
Novo scored 47 goals for Rangers in the SPL before his move to Sporting in 2010.
