Nigel Adkins praises Reading persistence

Reading boss Nigel Adkins admits his relief after seeing his side defeat Blackpool to end their six-match winless run in the Championship.

Reading boss Nigel Adkins has praised his team for beating Blackpool to end their six-match winless run in the Championship.

The Royals earned a comfortable 3-0 victory at home to the Seasiders on Saturday to edge closer to the top half of the table.

While insisting that his players have performed well in recent weeks, Adkins admits that he is relieved by seeing them defeat Blackpool.

"The last few results have gone against us and although we've played some good football in those games, it's all about results," he told the club's official website.

"But the players have responded to that really well. We've scored three goals, kept that all-important clean sheet and we've got three points on the board."

Reading are back in Championship action this Saturday when they travel to Blackburn Rovers.
