Reading boss Steve Clarke longs for next season after Charlton Athletic loss

Reading are keen to get this season over with as quickly as possible, says head coach Steve Clarke following their 3-2 defeat to Charlton.

Reading head coach Steve Clarke admitted that he is keen to get through this season as quickly as possible following yesterday's 3-2 defeat to Charlton Athletic.

Pavel Pogrebnyak gave the the Royals a half-time lead at The Valley, but the hosts side hit back with a brace from Yoni Buyens and a goal from Simon Church.

Clarke told BBC Sport: "The difference between the first half and the second half is incredible.

"Unfortunately it is symptomatic of the season and it's not too difficult to see why we are where we are. The quicker this league campaign is over and we are secure in the table that's all we can hope for and then we start again.

"We had more poor decisions from the referee. We have had plenty of them and I think we are getting used to them. Their penalty, it looked like a push, our defender was off balance, it is not a good decision."

Reading sit 19th in the Championship table, nine points clear of the relegation zone.
