Watford fight back for draw

Watford come from 2-0 down to secure a 3-3 draw with Reading at the Madejski Stadium this afternoon.

Watford came from two goals down to secure a 3-3 draw with Reading at the Madejski Stadium this afternoon.

Adam le Fondre broke the deadlock just eight minutes into the game, tapping in from a Jobi McAnuff cross.

Alex McCarthy had to work hard midway through the first half to protect the hosts' lead, with efforts from Fernando Forestieri and Lewis McGugan both testing the Royals keeper.

Jem Karacan doubled the home side's advantage just before half time, slotting a left-footing strike past Manuel Almunia in the Watford goal.

Forestieri and Troy Deeney both pushed hard for a Watford goal at the start of the second half as the visitors looked to get back into the game, but it was Marco Faraoni who got the Hotnets on the score board, heading in from an Almen Abdi corner.

Karacan restored Reading's two-goal cushion with his second of the afternoon just four minutes later, smashing the ball in with a right-footed strike.

However, Gianfranco Zola's side got themselves back into the game again in the 75th minute when Danny Guthrie brought Diego Fabbrini down in the area, allowing Deeney to slot in his fifth goal in three games.

The visitors continued to push hard for an equaliser and found it in stoppage time through a Fabbrini strike.
