Leicester have made an offer for Reading's Shane Long, according to Sky Sports News.
Ireland international Long, who scored 28 goals last season, has been linked with many clubs this summer, including West Brom, Fulham, Everton, Newcastle and West Ham.
Leicester manager Sven Goran Eriksson yesterday spoke of the difficulty of signing the 24-year-old, telling BBC Radio Leicester's Football Forum: "He is one on the list but might end up in the Premier League this season so it might be difficult.
"We are working on it and it would be a dream to take in someone who can score over 20 goals."
Leicester have been active in the transfer window and if the bid for Long is successful their summer spending could amount to more than £15m.
