Sunday's La Liga predictions including Alaves vs. Barcelona

Granada vs. Osasuna (Sunday, 1.00pm)

Granada and Osasuna square off in La Liga on Sunday afternoon looking for the victory which will take them further clear of the relegation zone.

Heading into the weekend, these two clubs sit in 14th and 13th place respectively after each losing their last league fixture.

We say: Granada 1-1 Osasuna

Given their current standing in the table, both teams are aware that a draw will keep them well out of trouble. With that in mind, do not be surprised to see a low-scoring share of the spoils play out on Sunday.

Real Madrid vs. Elche (Sunday, 3.15pm)

Real Madrid will be aiming to make it back-to-back wins over Elche when the two sides lock horns for the second time in quick succession at Bernabeu this weekend.

Los Blancos beat Elche 2-1 in the last-16 stage of the Copa del Rey on Thursday evening and will now be looking to strengthen their position at the top of La Liga when the pair meet in the league.

We say: Real Madrid 2-0 Elche

Real Madrid will be back at full strength this weekend, and we are finding it difficult to back anything other than a home victory here. Elche impressed in Thursday's Copa del Rey contest but are again likely to come up short against title-chasing Los Blancos at Bernabeu.

Real Sociedad vs. Getafe (Sunday, 5.30pm)

Real Sociedad head into Sunday's encounter with Getafe on the back of finally ending their winless streak in La Liga with victory over Celta Vigo.

While the home side sit in fifth position in the standings, Getafe are now four points clear of the relegation zone after their recent resurgence.

We say: Real Sociedad 2-1 Getafe

With both clubs now performing well, this has all the makings of an entertaining tussle. While we expect Getafe to be competitive throughout, we are siding with Sociedad, who could edge this contest by the odd goal in three.

Rayo Vallecano vs. Athletic Bilbao (Sunday, 5.30pm)

Rayo Vallecano and Athletic Bilbao square off in La Liga on Sunday evening with just three points separating the clubs in the La Liga standings.

While Vallecano hold the advantage and possess a game in hand, Bilbao head into the contest at Estadio de Vallecas in the better form.

Both clubs are having to battle hard to remain in contention for European qualification, and that should make for an intense match on Sunday. We give the marginal edge to the visitors, who may be able to capitalise on expectations beginning to rise at their opponents.

Alaves vs. Barcelona (Sunday, 8.00pm)

Barcelona will be looking to bounce back from successive defeats in two separate competitions when they resume their La Liga campaign away to struggling Alaves on Sunday night.

The Catalan giants are currently sixth in the La Liga table, one point behind fourth-placed Atletico Madrid, while Alaves occupy 18th spot, three points behind 17th-placed Mallorca.

We say: Alaves 1-2 Barcelona

This is a huge game for Barcelona, and there is no downplaying the importance of the contest for the Catalan outfit, who desperately need a win to boost their confidence. Alaves could make it a very tricky affair, but we are expecting the away side to emerge victorious due to their superior quality.
