Germany coach Joachim Low plays down rumours suggesting that he could take over from Jose Mourinho at Real Madrid.

Germany national coach Joachim Low has played down rumours linking him with the Real Madrid job.

The hotseat at the Santiago Bernabeu could become available over the summer amid reports that Jose Mourinho is on his way out of the club.

"This is just speculation, Jose Mourinho has a contract until 2016," Low told ZDF. "I have a contract with the DFB (German Football Association) until 2014.

"The best thing I could hope for is to become world champion with Germany before I leave. I have never said I will call it quits for sure after World Cup 2014."

Low was named as the coach of Germany following Jurgen Klinsmann's departure in 2006.
