Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho admits that he has given up hope of his club winning the La Liga title for a second year in a row.

Jose Mourinho has insisted that his Real Madrid side have no chance of retaining their La Liga title.

As it stands, the champions trail leaders and rivals Barcelona by 15 points.

However, despite the fact that there are still 18 matches to be played, Mourinho has revealed that the Champions League and Copa del Rey have already taken on more significance.

"The La Liga title is impossible now, there is too big a gap," the Portuguese boss told RMC Sport. "We have to focus on other goals like the Copa del Rey and the Champions League."

Widespread reports have claimed that Mourinho will leave his post at the end of the season.
