Real Madrid are yet to open contract talks with Vinicius Junior despite his impressive start to the season, according to a report.

Real Madrid are reportedly yet to open contract talks with Vinicius Junior despite the Brazil international being one of the lowest-paid players at the club.

The 21-year-old has been in impressive form for Los Blancos at the start of the 2021-22 campaign, scoring five times and contributing three assists in seven appearances in all competitions.

Vinicius has struck five times in six La Liga outings this term, while he has managed two goals and two assists in his last three appearances in Spain's top flight.

The Brazilian's current deal at the Bernabeu is due to run until June 2025, and according to Goal, he is one of the five lowest-paid players at the club despite his importance to the team.

The report claims that Los Blancos are yet to approach Vinicius over a new deal, but Carlo Ancelotti's side have accepted that they need to increase the South American's pay packet in the near future.

Vinicius is currently thought to earn around €4m (£3.4m) a season with Real Madrid, putting him in line with the likes of Dani Ceballos, Jesus Vallejo and Andriy Lunin.
