Herve Renard proud after Rennes draw

Lille head coach Herve Renard declares himself pleased following Friday's 1-1 draw with Rennes.

Lille head coach Herve Renard has insisted that he was proud of his players despite watching them throw away a lead in the 1-1 draw with Rennes on Friday night.

Despite leading for much of the second half, Lille were denied the win when Paul-Georges Ntep struck late to earn a point for Rennes, but Renard refused to be too critical of the team.

"I am proud of what we produced tonight, proud of what my boys have done since the beginning of the season," he told the Ligue 1 website.

"We have always had that defensive solidity, but sometimes a very average game offensively. Tonight we had everything but other things worked against us. The match swung on the only time Rennes put us in danger.

"Everybody watching the game will have their own analysis. In the game, you can see what we wanted to implement. However, when there is no technical correctness it is more complicated."

Lille will now turn their focus to Friday's trip to Reims.
