Republic of Ireland unseeded for Euro 2016 playoff draw

UEFA confirm that Republic of Ireland will not be one of the seeded sides for the Euro 2016 playoff draw.

Republic of Ireland will not be one of the seeded sides for the Euro 2016 playoff draw, UEFA have confirmed.

Martin O'Neill's side were beaten to automatic qualification by Poland and will have to earn a spot in next summer's tournament in France via the playoffs after finishing third in Group D.

Ireland could face one of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Ukraine, Sweden or Hungary in the playoffs, after those four nations were seeded for Sunday's draw, while Denmark, Norway and Slovenia are the other unseeded sides alongside the Irish.

Ireland qualified for the 2012 tournament via the playoffs after defeating Estonia 5-1 on aggregate, although they exited the finals at the group stage.

The playoff matches will take place during November.
