Modibo Maiga scored the only goal of the game as Sochaux claimed all three points from their home encounter with Dijon this afternoon.
The visitors had the better of the opening 45 minutes, but they were unable to break the deadlock as the sides headed into the break level.
Sochaux came out after the restart with a greater attacking threat and made their dominance count 20 minutes from time. Maiga saw his initial effort blocked but regained his composure to convert at the second time of asking.
Abdoulaye Bamba had Dijon's best chance to salvage something from the match five minutes from time, but he shot wide from 12 yards out as Sochaux held out.
