Report: Gaston Ramirez in talks to cancel Southampton contract

Gaston Ramirez is in talks with Southampton to cancel his contract, according to reports.

Gaston Ramirez is in negotiations to have his Southampton contract cancelled, according to reports.

The attacking midfielder has struggled with injuries and has not appeared for the Saints since August 2014.

The Mirror claims that the 24-year-old has the opportunity to return to Uruguayan club Penarol, where he started his career, and wants to cancel his £65k-per-week contract at Southampton.

Ramirez has scored six goals in 45 appearances for Southampton since joining the club for a fee of £12m from Bologna in 2012.
