Southampton have announced that they have agreed a compensation fee with Crystal Palace for defender Nathaniel Clyne.
The newly-promoted side, who expressed early interest in the 21-year-old, have managed to avoid taking the transfer to a tribunal after coming to an arrangement to pay a fee in the region of £2.5m for out-of-contract Clyne.
Saints manager Nigel Adkins told the club's official website: "Nathaniel has done very well. He only had one training session before he joined us, so we're upping the game with him in a way that will make sure he doesn't break down."
The England Under-21 international agreed a four-year deal with the former Championship club last week.
