Tottenham Hotspur manager Andre Villas-Boas has confirmed that Gareth Bale will not feature during Thursday's Europa League match with NK Maribor in Slovenia.

The winger recently became a father and has been given permission to stay at home with his girlfriend and their new baby daughter.

"Gareth hasn't travelled for family reasons. He'll train at home to get ready for Southampton," said Villas-Boas.

Spurs currently sit third in Group J with two points from their opening two matches.
