A cardiac problem suffered by Fabrice Muamba is expected to see the FA Cup tie between Tottenham Hotspur and Bolton Wanderers abandoned.

There was very little to separate Tottenham Hotspur and Bolton Wanderers as the two sides headed into the break with a goal apiece in their FA Cup quarter-final at White Hart Lane this evening.

Visiting Bolton started the brighter of the two sides and broke the deadlock in the sixth minute courtesy of the first corner of the match. Darren Pratley rose highest to see his header beat Carlo Cudicini via a deflection off Spurs winger Gareth Bale.

Welsh international Bale made amends six minutes later when he crossed for full-back Kyle Walker, who ghosted in to head past Adam Bogdan in the away goal.

Bale went close to put Spurs in front in the 25th minute, but he was unable to keep Benoit Assou-Ekotto's cross on target.

Up the other end, both Martin Petrov and Ivan Klasnic shot wide from narrow angles.

The half was brought to an end with Wanderers midfielder Fabrice Muamba being stretchered off with suspected cardiac problems.

It is expected that the tie will now be abandoned.
