Pep Guardiola casts doubt over Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of reversing their Premier League home fixture with Manchester City to the Etihad Stadium on October 28.

Pep Guardiola has cast doubt over Tottenham Hotspur's hopes of reversing their Premier League home fixture with Manchester City to the Etihad Stadium on October 28.

Following the news that the opening of their new stadium has been delayed due to safety concerns, Spurs are now seeking a contingency venue for their meeting with the English champions.

Wembley is being used on the same day for the NFL showdown between Jacksonville Jaguars and the Philadelphia Eagles, with no plans in place for that fixture to be rescheduled.

One suggested solution would be to play the game at the Etihad Stadium, meaning that the corresponding fixture, scheduled for April 20, would be in London.

However, that would leave Man City with three straight away games at the end of April, a total of four away games out of their last five fixtures.

Asked by The Telegraph whether the game could be switched, Guardiola replied: "I don't know - I can only say when that happens, [four of] the last five games are away.

"I think [it would be a problem] when you are maybe playing for the Premier League [title], four games away is a little bit different. I'm a manager for what happens on the pitch, this is off the pitch.

"In the end if Tottenham want to suggest something they'll speak with our CEO, and our people. [We want] the best for the Premier League, for Tottenham... we are going to decide."

Spurs are already set to become the first club in Premier League history to play their home matches at two different venues in the same season.
