Harry Kane: 'Improved fitness has helped me this season'

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane says that Mauricio Pochettino's focus on fitness has helped him this season.

Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane has said that his improved physical condition has made a big difference to his game this season.

The 21-year-old was crowned PFA Young Player of the Year on Sunday for scoring over 30 goals in a fine season, and the player has hailed manager Mauricio Pochettino for the effect his training methods have had.

He told The Telegraph: "I've always had a football brain but the physical side wasn't always there. When I was younger I never really had the pace or strength I have now. A lot of people said that this season they've seen a big difference in that. That's a lot of hard work, in training, in the gym.

"It was me trying to work out how I could get better and [Mauricio] Pochettino was big on that fitness aspect. He's got the whole team fit. He's definitely helped me. When you're feeling fit and strong you're full of confidence."

Kane finished second to Eden Hazard in the PFA Player of the Year category.
