Tottenham Hotspur Harry Redknapp has quashed any speculation of Jermain Defoe leaving White Hart Lane despite not being the manager's first-choice striker.
The 29-year-old has lost his spot in Spurs' starting lineup to loanee teammate Emmanuel Adebayor.
Despite reports linking the England international with a January transfer, the former Portsmouth manager has said that there is "no way" the frontman will be sold.
"I wouldn't sell him," Redknapp told talkSPORT. "No way. We had a reserve game in midweek and he scored five against Charlton.
"I spoke to him in the week and I had a chat with him. He will get his opportunities and when they come along he'll take them."
Defoe has revealed that he has no intention of leaving the North London club.
