Glenn Hoddle urges Gareth Bale stay

Glenn Hoddle advises Gareth Bale to forget about leaving Tottenham Hotspur at the end of the season.

Former Tottenham Hotspur player and manager Glenn Hoddle has advised Gareth Bale to forget about leaving the club this summer.

The Welsh winger has been linked with both Barcelona and Real Madrid following a string of match-winning displays for Spurs this season.

"If I was personally advising him, I'd say don't move yet," Hoddle told The Sun.

"When you go abroad, like when I moved to Monaco, you can't just pick up the reins and carry on. He won't be able to do that if he goes to Barcelona or Real Madrid — that would take some time.

"I think another year or couple of years and he'll be ready, but if that cheque's big enough I don't think Tottenham will be able to turn it down."

Bale was ruled out of action for two weeks on Friday with ankle ligament damage.
