Gareth Bale sidelined for two weeks with ankle injury

Tottenham Hotspur confirm that Gareth Bale will be out of action for the next two weeks with an ankle injury.

Tottenham Hotspur winger Gareth Bale is expected to be on the sidelines for a fortnight with an ankle ligament damage.

There were fears that the Wales international could be out of action for the remainder of the season after getting stretchered off during last night's Europa League 2-2 draw with Basel at White Hart Lane.

The 23-year-old underwent a scan today, along with injured duo William Gallas and Aaron Lennon, who were both given the same verdict.

A statement on the club's official website said: "The results of these scans have indicated that all three players are expected to return to training within two weeks."

Meanwhile, Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas will have to prepare his side without the trio for Sunday's Premier League clash against Everton.
