Tottenham Hotspur manager Jose Mourinho has refused to discuss Jan Vertonghen's future at the club, with the defender's contract in North London about to run out.
Speculation has been rife regarding the defender's next career move as of late, with Vertonghen's contract at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium set to expire at the end of the Premier League season after he penned a short-term extension.
Despite the uncertainty surrounding the 33-year-old's future, Mourinho has remained tight-lipped with regards to Vertonghen's contract situation.
"I cannot say that, it's not for me to say that," Mourinho said during a press conference.
"Someone who has been in the club for eight months cannot speak about somebody who has eight years of brilliant contribution to the club."
Vertonghen has amassed 315 appearances for Spurs since his arrival in 2012, but the Belgium international has only made the starting lineup once since football in England returned amid the coronavirus pandemic.
