Tottenham Hotspur eye Morgan Sanson as Ndombele replacement?

Tottenham Hotspur identify Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson as a potential replacement for Tanguy Ndombele, according to a report.

Tottenham Hotspur have reportedly identified Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson as a potential replacement for the out-of-favour Tanguy Ndombele.

The Frenchman has endured a turbulent time during his maiden campaign in North London, with recent reports claiming that Ndombele lashed out at Jose Mourinho and told the Spurs manager he never wants to play for him again.

Mourinho was quick to rubbish such reports, but the speculation surrounding Ndombele's future has continued to gather pace amid his troubles in the Premier League.

According to French outlet Le Parisien, Mourinho has made Sanson his number one target heading into the summer transfer window, although the Lilywhites would have to fend off interest from Newcastle United and West Ham United to secure the 25-year-old's signature.

Sanson still has two years left to run on his Marseille contract, however, and the report suggests that it would take a bid of up to £36m to pry the midfielder away from the Stade Velodrome.

Sanson has become a regular fixture in the heart of the Marseille midfield since his arrival in 2017, with the Frenchman registering five goals and five assists from 27 Ligue 1 appearances before the season was curtailed.
