Tottenham Hotspur are reportedly lining up a £10m move for Wigan Athletic midfielder James McCarthy.
Spurs chairman Daniel Levy is ready to rejuvenate the White Hart Lane squad with a number of young players.
According to The Mirror, 22-year-old McCarthy is at the top of his list after impressing for Wigan in their FA Cup win.
Levy has apparently been tracking McCarthy for months and feels that he can add something to a Spurs midfield which has been blighted by injuries to the likes of Sandro and Scott Parker.
McCarthy is ready to quit Wigan after three years at the club, especially if they are relegated this season.
It is thought that Newcastle United are also interested, while Everton have dropped out of the running after the news that manager David Moyes will be leaving to join Manchester United.
