How Tottenham Hotspur could line up next season

With Tottenham Hotspur expected to make numerous incomings and sales later in 2020, Sports Mole predicts how Jose Mourinho's side could line up next season.

While Jose Mourinho has successfully moved Tottenham Hotspur back into the race for the top four, the Portuguese will be far from happy with the performances of his team.

Having suffered exits from the Champions League and FA Cup respectively, Spurs have been left to try to close down Chelsea, who sit seven points ahead of them in fourth position.

Although high-profile additions were made in January, Mourinho will prioritise strengthening his defence during the next transfer window.

With that in mind, Sports Mole assesses how Spurs may line up at the beginning of the next campaign, whenever that may be.

TOTXI next season

Despite errors being made by both Hugo Lloris and Paulo Gazzaniga this season, it would come as a surprise if Mourinho changed his goalkeeping options.

However, expect a new arrival at right-back, potentially in the form of Norwich City's Max Aarons, who has been frequently linked with a switch to North London.

Real Madrid's Eder Militao, who can play at full-back or in the centre, is also an option, with Jan Vertonghen and Danny Rose almost certain to move on over the coming months.

Although Benfica's Alex Grimaldo has been linked with Spurs, Mourinho may be happy to go with Ben Davies, Japhet Tanganga and Ryan Sessegnon as his options at left-back and left wing-back.

Much of the midfield and attack is expected to remain the same, providing that Mourinho does not look to cash in on Tanguy Ndombele after just one season.

The Portuguese may target a more physically-imposing midfielder than Harry Winks and Giovani Lo Celso but for now, the pass-masters get the nod.

Son Heung-min and Harry Kane are certain starters once they have returned from their respective injuries, with Steven Bergwijn occupying a role on the right wing and Dele Alli continuing in something of a free role behind the main frontman.
