Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino says he hopes that England and Argentina are drawn against each other in Friday's World Cup draw.

Tottenham Hotspur head coach Mauricio Pochettino has claimed that it would be "fantastic" for England and Argentina to draw each other at next summer's World Cup.

Pochettino won a total of 20 caps for the South American nation during his playing career, but the majority of his spell in the dugout has been spent in England.

The teams are in different pots for Friday's draw in Russia, and Pochettino has revealed that he would like to see the sides square off during the group stages.

The 45-year-old told reporters: "Yes, it would be fantastic. Difficult for both. Yes, why not? It would be fantastic to see Argentina play England. I think both of them have the quality to go further in the World Cup.

Pochettino represented Argentina when England ran out 1-0 winners at the 2002 World Cup in Japan and South Korea.
