Alan Shearer says that England could benefit from Harry Kane's injury blow, but it is bad news for Tottenham Hotspur.

Alan Shearer has claimed that England could benefit from the setback suffered by Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane.

The North London outfit have confirmed that the 24-year-old has suffered ankle ligament damage.

Kane picked up the injury during a collision with Bournemouth goalkeeper Asmir Begovic during Sunday's 4-1 victory at the Vitality Stadium.

There were reports that the hitman would be out of action until May, but Tottenham expect the striker to be back training next month.

Former England striker Shearer believes that it is good news for the Three Lions ahead of the World Cup in Russia.

The 47-year-old tweeted: "Not good at all for @SpursOfficial but could benefit @England after a little rest!"

Kane has scored 35 goals in all competitions so far this season.
