Sunderland boss Gus Poyet eases pressure on Steven Fletcher

Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet refuses to blame Steven Fletcher for his lack of goalscoring form.

Sunderland head coach Gus Poyet has insisted that Steven Fletcher's lack of goals is not his fault.

The Scotland international has found the back of the net just twice this season, but Poyet believes that his teammates are failing to provide the forward the right service.

"If he had missed a clear chance, I would have to say maybe he was lacking confidence, but he hasn't had too many because we are not creating too many," Sky Sports News quotes Poyet as saying.

The Black Cats will take on fellow struggling Premier League side West Ham United on Saturday.
