Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat: "Every player is for sale"

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat reveals that he will accept offers for any member of his squad if they wish to leave the club before the end of the transfer window.

Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat has refused to discuss his future at the club, but revealed that every player in his squad is up for sale following their poor start to the Premier League season.

The Black Cats have lost their opening two fixtures to Leicester City and Norwich City, conceding seven goals in the process, to leave themselves bottom of the table.

Reports suggested that Jermain Defoe wanted to move away from the club, and the Dutchman has admitted that, although the link was untrue, any player that has a desire to leave Wearside can do so.

When asked about his future, he told reporters: "I don't want to discuss that now. It's not an issue, we're concentrating on the Swansea game."

On his current squad, Advocaat added: "Every player is for sale. If the player wants to go then he can go.

"I have definitely said to our owner (Ellis Short) we needed five or six new players. He says we have four or five [already]. But I said we need quality players. You always get what you pay for. But I have to be fair to the owner; he never mentioned a figure to me."

Sunderland face Swansea City in the Premier League at the Stadium of Light later today.
