Asamoah Gyan is expected to join Al-Ain on a season-long loan.

Asamoah Gyan will be leaving the Stadium of Light for a season-long loan at Al-Ain, according to Sky Sports News.

The Sunderland striker had been the subject of interest for a number of European clubs during the transfer window but a move never came to fruition.

Black Cats manager Steve Bruce recently complained about the effect that rumoured moves had had on the 25-year-old. He said that the Ghana player had become distracted by "parasites" trying to arrange transfers and lost focus on the game.

The move is expected to become official shortly as Gyan is understood to have agreed personal terms.
