Watford appeal Gabriele Angella red card

Watford lodge an appeal with the Football Association in the hope of having Gabriele Angella's red card overturned.

Watford have appealed against the red card shown to Gabriele Angella in the early stages of Friday night's Championship top-six battle against Bournemouth.

The Italian defender was shown a straight red card inside the opening 30 seconds after referee Lee Probert had adjudged that he brought down Cherries striker Callum Wilson as the last man.

However, replays showed that there was a covering defender who was ahead of Wilson.

League leaders Bournemouth went on to win the game 2-0, moving seven points clear of sixth-placed Watford.

If the decision is not overturned, Angella will have to serve a two-game ban as it was his second dismissal of the season.
