West Ham United striker Javier Hernandez has said that he wants to be more involved at the club after only making the substitutes' bench in recent fixtures.

Hernandez, who has started 11 of the Hammers' 20 Premier League games this term, suffered a hamstring tear while on international duty with Mexico in November.

The 29-year-old returned from injury in December but has only been used as a substitute in four consecutive league matches following Marko Arnautovic's impressive form in front of goal.

"If you ask all footballers all over the world, they will tell you they don't want to be on the bench, and that's a normal thing," he told the club's website.

"They all want to play and I'm trying to prove that I want to be involved with more minutes, with more starts, and then we'll see what happens. I'm always going to give everything for the team, whenever I am on the pitch.

"I love football and I want to be as professional as I can. If I am given one minute or 90 minutes, and I will try to do my best."

West Ham's next fixture is against Tottenham Hotspur on Thursday, before David Moyes's side travel to Shrewsbury in the FA Cup.
