Joey O'Brien blames himself for Crystal Palace defeat

Joey O'Brien admits that Crystal Palace's goal on Tuesday was his fault but is keen to move on from the mistake.

West Ham United full-back Joey O'Brien has admitted that Crystal Palace's goal in the Hammers' 1-0 defeat on Tuesday night was his fault.

O'Brien said that he should not have lost his man Marouane Chamakh at the corner but that the team were now focused and looking to move on from the disappointing result.

"The corner they scored from was the massive moment in the game and it was my man who scored the goal," he told the club's official website. "I took responsibility for it straight away, it happens in football and I was very disappointed that it happened to me.

"We went to Palace to get three points, back-to-back wins and get us higher up the league towards the top half, but it wasn't to be.

"We've got to move on now and look forward to the next one. We can take positives from that draw last year. The lads know we can get a result there. We have to be positive in the way we play and hopefully that can lead to a result."

West Ham take on Liverpool at Anfield on Saturday.
