David Sullivan backs Sam Allardyce

West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan backs manager Sam Allardyce to turn around the team's fortunes this season.

West Ham United co-owner David Sullivan has backed manager Sam Allardyce to retain the club's Premier League status for next season.

The Hammers moved out of the relegation zone on Saturday with a 2-0 away victory over Cardiff City.

"If you were looking for a manager to keep you up, you'd appoint Sam," the Daily Mail quotes him as saying.

"But we've got a long way to go and he knows it, we know it, the players know it.

"We've given away too many points, made too many mistakes, but we put ourselves back in with a fighting chance."

West Ham are currently level on 18 points with 18th-placed Cardiff, but are a place above the Welsh outfit because of a superior goal difference.
