Callum McManaman receives praise from his Wigan Athletic teammate Shaun Maloney for his performance during the FA Cup final.

Shaun Maloney has described Callum McManaman's performance during this evening's FA Cup final as "outstanding".

The young Wigan Athletic winger caused a large amount of problems to the Manchester City defence and was even fouled six minutes from time, which resulted in Pablo Zabaleta receiving a red card.

Wigan went on to make the most of their numerical advantage as Ben Watson headed in a minute from time to secure a 1-0 win.

"Callum McManaman was outstanding, such a big threat," Maloney told BBC Sport.

The Scottish international went on to add: "It is unbelievable. We had a gameplan and our goalkeeper made a couple of important saves, and we believed we could win.

"We wanted a perfect game and I think we nearly achieved that today. This is a fair amount to take in - it's hard to put into words what this means. It feels amazing."

Wigan had never previously won the competition before today.
