Wigan Athletic boss Roberto Martinez believes that his team have already shown that they can cope without forward Victor Moses.

Wigan Athletic manager Roberto Martinez believes that his side have shown that they are more than capable of surviving the loss of forward Victor Moses.

The Latics, who accepted a fee thought to be in the region of £9m for Moses from Chelsea last week, responded to the departure by defeating Southampton 2-0 on Saturday.

"I think the whole team took responsibility after losing Victor Moses," the Manchester Evening News quotes Martinez as saying.

"He leaves with our blessing. He has done everything he could to help our football club and with that he helped his career.

"He arrived aged 19 and you get really attached to him, but I think this group of players are desperate to fulfil his responsibility and his boots."

Wigan play host to Stoke City in the Premier League this Saturday.
