Wigan 0-0 Liverpool

Wigan earn a valuable point with a goalless draw at home to Liverpool.

Wigan Athletic have earned a valuable point with a goalless draw at home to Liverpool.

The visitors were the more dominant in the opening period, but Wigan goalkeeper Ali Al-Habsi pulled off a string of saves to keep the scores level.

The Reds could have gone ahead after half time when they were awarded a penalty after Luis Suarez's overhead kick was blocked with a hand by Gary Caldwell. However, Charlie Adam's spot kick has palmed away by Al-Habsi.

Liverpool came close again when Adam whipped a cross into the box, but Dirk Kuyt blasted over from close range.

The introductions of Craig Bellamy and Jonjo Shelvey saw Liverpool increase the pressure on the Latics, but they were unable to find the decisive goal.
