Wigan Athletic's loanee Paul Scharner says that he is planning to return to Hamburger SV in the summer.

Paul Scharner has indicated that he has no intention to turn his loan switch to Wigan Athletic into a permanent move.

The Austrian defender, who spent four years with Wigan up until 2010, joined Hamburger SV on a free transfer last summer. He was allowed to return to the DW Stadium on a temporary basis in January, though, after he had struggled to hold down a place in the German club's starting lineup.

However, rather than seek an exit, the 33-year-old has expressed his determination to make his mark in the Bundesliga.

"There has been no real change. I am due to be back at Hamburger SV this summer," he told the Hamburger Morgenpost.

"It's my utmost ambition to make a name for myself at Hamburger SV. Those experiences I am having in the Premier League are giving me an extra boost to do so.

"I am actually believing in my full strength again. I am a good player, if I am getting regular match action."

Scharner has just over one year left on his contract at the Imtech Arena.
